A baby?

Huh... how big is it? A full grown whale we can't do, but a baby is a lot easier to consider.

No bigger than a few feet at most. If that. It is quite young, from the looks of it. Newly born, I would wager.

Oh, that's not too bad! We could definitely take in something that small!

Although, if it needs salt water, then I might need to make a few arrangements first. Our lake is freshwater, so I'd need to make sure a saltwater creature could live here safely. But once I do we'd have no problem housing it!

What sort of arrangements might you need? Is there anything that Cidolfus and I could fetch for you?

Well, I have to see if I can make a saltwater reservoir first. Either that, or some kind of magic to let saltwater creatures live in the lake. But it shouldn't take too long regardless!

I could have my birds look into things for you, if you require.

Really? You'd be willing to help me with that?

What, did you think that we were simply going to foist a baby whale on you and that would be that?

Well, no offence but based on how we met last time, you never struck me as the type to help out with this sort of thing.

And what exactly about our last meeting gave you that impression?

Well you didn't do anything that really made me think you cared for baby whales?

But I guess appearances aren't everything!

I did not know I would wind up caring for one either, to be quite honest. It just sort of happened one day when Cidolfus and I were investigating the ones being poached. I suppose I found myself drawn to this little one as a result.

Huh... Well, I guess we can get drawn to unexpected things without knowing. And I guess you can't be all that bad if you're so concerned for a baby whale.

[garudas]

[If Nanaki could see the way she bristles with embarrassment about that... A good thing that he cannot.]

I care very much for this little one, so you can be sure to see me there quite often to check on it. We are also pondering bringing in another, as it is still a child. Someone who can teach it the ways of being a whale before releasing it back out into the wild.

As I doubt you or anyone who works there will know the first thing about being one.

Oh, a friend would be great for him! The two could learn how to be whales together. You're right that I wouldn't really be able to teach them that.

Alright, I'll get started on making preparations for taking the two in, and even let Turo know to allow you to come and see them while they spend time here.
